In 2019 it will be 175 years since the birth of Minna Canth (1844–1897), a Finnish author, influential social figure and businesswoman, who was also fluent in several languages. A new exhibition will shed light on Minna Canth’s extensive reading of both Finnish and foreign fiction and non-fiction in the fields of comparative literature, religion, philosophy and the social and natural sciences, as well as on her status as a literary intermediary in her salon. The exhibition will feature books important to Canth as well as her related commentary.

The exhibition is being mounted in cooperation with the Minna Canth Society.
